Segments

How to create and manage segments to group your users and visitors with powerful filters.

Updated over a week ago

Segments let you group your users in meaningful ways, such as US & Canada users, NPS Promoters, or Pricing page visitors.

You can use the Segments that you create to filter feedback, testimonials, and people in the RateHighly dashboard.

You can also use Segments when choosing your audience in your campaigns. For example you can choose to request a testimonial only from customers in the United States and Canada.

Create a segment

In RateHighly

  1. Click Create Segment

  2. Add a name and pick a color for your segment

  3. Create your filters (see below)

Create your filters

Segments let you group your users with filters. Filters can be combined in powerful ways.

For instance, lets say we want to view all the testimonials from Canadians. We can create a segment named 'Happy Canadians' like the one below.

In this segment, we've created a group which includes users who both rated at least 8 out of 10, and where their country is Canada.

For another example, you might want to survey users in United States who are viewing the dashboard page OR users from anywhere, on any page who visited your app at 5 times.

Below we've created a segment named 'Survey group'. There are two filter groups mean any user currently visiting a page starting with /dashboard and where the country is US or any user who visited at least 5 times will be included in the filter group.

URL path starts with /dashboard AND Country is US OR Pageviews at least 5

RateHighly comes with a few Segments pre-installed in your account, so you can get started using Segments immediately.

Filtering using Segments

On pages like the Dashboard, Feedback, and Testimonials, you can filter the responses by multiple segments.

On the dashboard click Select a segment.

This will filter the results so that only responses given by a user in the selected segment will be displayed.

You can select multiple segments. This will filter by the results so that responses from users in any of the segments will be returned.

For instance, you can apply both segments European users and North American users and users from both France and Canada will be included in the results.

Using Segments in Campaign audiences

You can filter your audience in a campaign by using a Segment you created earlier.

Only users in any of your chosen segments will be surveyed.
